Basic lapidary instruction is currently open to all CCGMA members and must be taken in order for members to work independently in the shop.  New participants will obtain a fundamental understanding of the materials, safety and machine operations that are used in the lapidary arts.  The focus of this instruction is to teach basic cutting, shaping and polishing skills using the machines on hand, as well as shop safety and etiquette

The class is structured in two four hour blocks (8 hours total) and the fee is $65.

Participants should expect instruction to be broken down over 2 separate days (safety & use of slab saws, use of oil based trim saws, 8 inch wheel cab machines & buffers, and use of small water saw, flat lap, and 6 inch wheel cambers).   Shop clean up will also be covered.

For those interested in Basic Lapidary, you can  either come to the Shop and meet with the Shop Steward to set up a convenient time or send an email through the contact page of this website.
